ARTISTS & LABEL
We are JUKE EMPIRE: an artist-run music production entity and record label created by singer-songwriter, NINA (aka Nina Boldt) and artist-producer, Radio Wolf (aka Oliver Blair). We’ve recently teamed up to create songs that break free from genre specific formulas.
We’ve established a distinct sound—a retro-futuristic fusion of modern electronic music with older, more organic styles like blues and rock n roll for example. Haunting vocals combine with lush synths, propulsive guitar hooks, spacey SFX and atmospheric production to create an emotionally resonant sonic landscape—all designed to ignite the imagination.
We teamed up initially to explore new sounds that would take NINA beyond her purely Synthwave oeuvre. The collaboration invoked the single,‘Carnival Night’. This recording, produced by Radio Wolf, took her into darker, more cinematic sonic territory. Wonderland magazine applauded the track as “…masterful…”. It was followed by the songs ‘Gold Heart’ (co-written and co-produced with 80s Pop veteran Ricky Wilde) and ‘I'll Wait’, a Radio Wolf produced reimagining of NINA’s lead song from the feature horror film There's No Such Thing As Vampires.
Inspired to collaborate further, we’ve since written and recorded an album of original songs and have just released the first two singles from it, with more on the way.
Previous to our team-up, NINA can be heard on films, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, In From The Side, the series Being Human, and a TV commercial for Mercedes Benz.
And previously Radio Wolf wrote, performed and produced seven songs for the feature film PROXIMITY in collaboration with synth pop group Parallels, which was released as an album by Lakeshore Records. The track ‘Journey’s End’ won ‘Best Song’ at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
His EP NIGHT LIGHT invokes what he calls ‘cinema of the mind’; noir inspired instrumentals composed, performed and recorded during exclusively nocturnal work sessions.
As NINA and Radio Wolf we continue to craft songs together.
